OCEANSIDE, Calif. -- A pastor has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a teenage girl.

Matthias Anderson, 41, was taken into custody on Tuesday in Murrieta, Calif., on suspicion of unlawful sex and lew acts with a child.

Police say Anderson, who started New Wine Ministries in Oceanside, went to the girl's home around 7:45 a.m. to pick her up. Instead, he found police waiting for him, authorities said.

Detectives say Anderson had a sexual relationship with the girl for two years. They say he met the girl when she and her mother were staying at the church's women's shelter.

The girl's mother told police in October 2010 that she suspected Anderson and her 14-year-old daughter were having a sexual relationship, but the girl would not cooperate with the investigation at that time.

Her mother told investigators that Anderson told the family in April 2011 they had to leave his Oceanside congregation but did not provide a reason. She said Anderson's wife told her it was because of something that happened between Anderson and her daughter.

The family left the congregation and moved to Murrieta. But recently, the mother found email messages between Anderson and her daughter, as well several calls to Anderson listed on her daughter's cell phone.
Murrieta police say the girl reluctantly admitted to having a sexual relationship with Anderson.
She told authorities that Anderson had been counseling her since 2009, but she denied that the relationship was sexual at that time. She did admit having 'romantic feelings' for Anderson, however.

According to the New Wine Ministries website, Anderson, a former Marine, is married with six children.

He is being held on $1 million bail.
