2-Year-Old Girl Dies After Her Cousin Accidentally Shot Her In The Head – Bullet Went THROUGH WALL

- A two-year-old girl has died after her cousin accidentally shot her in the head inside her own home.

Kaylen Torres was playing with two other children in the living room of the house in Orange County, Florida when a gun her cousin was attempting to put away inside his bedroom discharged on Boxing Day.

The toddler tragically died from her injuries today (Tuesday) with her parents by her side at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Her cousin, Christian Galarza-Rodriguez, 21, told police the 22 caliber semi-automatic accidentally fired when he was attempting to put it away inside a box in his dresser drawer.

The bullet, fired at a downward angle, went through the wall and struck the toddler in the head as she was sitting on a pillow directly on the other side of the wall, according to the Sentinel.

Galarza-Rodriguez helped the girl’s mother rush her to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee and was cooperative with police, detectives told the newspaper.

‘Our hearts and prayers go out to the family,’ Detective James Berish said during a press conference, according to the Sentinel.

Police said they have been able to verify Galarza-Rodriguez’s account of the fatal incident.

He has been arrested on suspicion of giving police a false name after initially telling police his name was Luis Farias.

However, officers found an ID with a different name.

Immigration Customs Enforcement has been notified to clarify whether or not he is in the country legally, according to the Sentinel.

It is not yet clear if charges will be filed in relation to the incident.
