Police Believe Brian Douglas White Killed Ex's Mom, New Boyfriend and Self

LIVONIA, Mich. (WJBK) -- A jilted boyfriend told by his girlfriend their relationship was over snaps with an axe and a gun. Sources close to the investigation describe a bloody scene inside a home on Sunnydale near Five Mile and Inkster Road in Livonia.

Police say 19-year-old Brian Douglas White went to the home of his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend.

Investigators say White killed the mother of his ex-girlfriend, 46-year-old Angela Kim Staperfene, and they say he used an axe to kill his ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend, Jacob Lee Burns, 19, of Livonia.

The 17-year-old ex-girlfriend managed to run outside and call 911. She was injured during the violent attack.

Police arrived quickly and discovered White dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Classmates in the neighborhood say the 17-year-old girl is a senior at Stevenson High School in Livonia. She was hospitalized, treated and released.

On scene, police were ruling a double murder and a suicide.

Classmates and neighbors of the 17-year-old girl who survived described a caring, compassionate girl raised by a loving family.

"She's a very happy, outgoing girl," said neighbor Lisa Collins.

"She's a good friend of mine," said classmate Amanda Mellville. "When I was watching the news, I was about to cry because I thought she was like in trouble. I mean, I still feel bad for her, but it's sad
