"An important question, as ABC news noted, is why none of Billasano's 500 followers called the police, or reached out to help her."
Because they belong to Generation Y. A generation we have allowed to become callous, consciousless less than human beings.

I recently encountered a simular situation with my daughter's friend. The friend (whom I have never met) has been talking to my daughter and another friend about suicide. He has a plan and said he doesn't think he will live until the end of the month. I checked with another friend of the boy who made the comments. This boy had also told her but never told anybody because she didn't know what to do and what if the boy was mad at her....He has posted something on facebook but the other adults on the page (family friends I believe) have just posted "you know I am always here for you) when he posted things like I can't do it anymore. Nobody is there who can help me. Nobody should cry tears over me...etc. I have contacted the school the kids go to and my daughter agrees she would rather have her friend mad than dead. I also had her give him my phone # and facebook information and to have him contact me. He thanked my daughter for caring. I figure I will give him a day and send a little message to him through facebook...alot of stuff for 15 year olds to be dealing with.

This shows how vapid the social networks are -- 500 'friends' and no one was listening.
Do the math: 500 (friends) X 144 (messages) = 72,000 individual messages to the ether....instead of just talking to someone.

first off the artical says that the DA the police and cps investigated but there wasnt enough to indite anyone. then she tweets that she is going into the bathroom and killing herself. It sounds to me like she was trying to do this for attention and it went to far. where was the mother or father? if she had gone to the police and they said "I have trouble beiliving you" maybe it was because of a total lack of evidence. rather than blame CPS, the cops, the DA, or her 500 twitter followers maybe we just chalk this up as a sad story and let it go.
if you think about it how many people a day post suicide thoughts online? this is just another story ive read that shows how little parents pay attention. and yes i am a father.

People like this resort to using the internet where hundreds if not thousands of people will hear their cries for help; How many hundreds or thousands will read this article and forget how they "should react" when someone reaches out in the same manner. Sometimes the difference is as much as just reaching out to someone... calling or visiting with them when you sense something might be wrong. This should be a reminder to all us - it just takes "one" person to reach out when someone is in pain. God bless her, her family and those left behind.

I'm thinking the world is becoming immune to what a person is really feeling and experiencing because everything is now done by e-mails, facebook, texts and tweets.
[I WILL B STATING MY MIND ON THIS ONE]
