Bay City News Service — Three people were killed and three others were injured in a shooting outside a party in an industrial area of San Leandro early this morning, police said.

Police were called to the corner of Alvarado Street and Aladdin Avenue at 1:20 a.m. after receiving a 911 call that shots had been fired in the area, said San Leandro police Sgt. Doug Calcagno.

When officers arrived, they discovered that several people had been
shot shortly after the party let out. Three were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a report on KGO-TV, quoting the father of one of the victims, shot to death were a 19-year-old San Francisco woman; her 16-year-old friend and their 20-year-old friend, a man who lived in Oakland.

Two people were taken to a hospital by ambulance and another
wounded man drove himself there. Calcagno said he did not yet know the severity of their injuries.

Calcagno said it appears the party was in a warehouse or office space and was advertised online. He said police are still trying to track down the owners of the business park where the shooting happened, to see who rented the building out.

According to Twitter users, the party was an "Inked up" tattoo event at 661 Alvarado St.

Witnesses said after the party ended they were approached by at least two gunmen who opened fire. Six people were shot.

Calcagno said it is unknown whether the gunmen had attended the
party or arrived afterward.

Police had reports that anywhere from one hundred to four hundred people were in attendance. A party that size should have had a permit with the city but as yet police are not aware that any such permit was taken out, Calcagno said.

The shootings took place in the parking lot of the Gardco Industrial Park. Police were not sure exactly which suite inside the park housed the party and therefore which leaseholder should have known about the event. Calcagno said that was being tracked down.

Coroners had not yet notified the victims' next of kin and no information about their identities would be released until that occurred, Calcagno said. But the victims included men and women, he said.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in their investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call San Leandro police directly or to call the tip line at 510-577-3278.

In a similar incident, three people were shot in Castro Valley in August after a late night weekend dance party at the Moose Lodge. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
