3-year-old fatally stabbed in Austin

A 3-year-old boy was stabbed to death and his mother was seriously wounded after the child’s father allegedly attacked the pair on the West Side early Friday.

After knifing the victim, the man jumped out of a second-story window in an attempt to escape before he was apprehended, police said.

The boy died at John H. Stroger Hospital.

He could not be identified because his mother, 25, was hospitalized in critical condition and his father was badly injured from leaping from the building, in the 5000 block of West Division, authorities said.
